Small Utility Clean Energy Planning Applications are Now Open on a Rolling Basis

The Illinois Finance Authority, in its role as Illinois’ Climate Bank, is pleased to release its second Notice of Funding Opportunity to support municipal and cooperative utilities in transitioning to cleaner energy sources through robust planning and implementation efforts. Up to $400,000 in total funding is available in this rolling application round.

Eligible applicants include municipal and cooperative utilities serving Illinois communities. Grants may be used to assess energy needs, evaluate renewable energy options, and develop procurement strategies that align with the goals of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA). This initiative is designed to equip utilities with the resources necessary to navigate the complexities of clean power integration while maintaining reliable and affordable electricity service.Projects must support all three of the program’s core objectives:

  1.  Clean Energy Roadmap and Strategy Development
  2.  Utility Capacity Building and Procurement Readiness
  3.  Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reductions
